Making a Families Dream Come True.
Without Your Commitment & Support, Ellie Cant Get To America.
Ellie Poppy Duffy (Eloise) is 8 years old and lives in Salford Manchester. Her medical diagnosis's are ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder),
a chromosome abnormality and severe learning disability.
Ellie Poppy was born at 24 weeks gestation and weighed just only 1lb 6 oz's. It was a miracle she survived her early life and the doctors were certain that she wouldnt survive all her problems. She was just the size of a mans hand. Because of being so small and precious, she lived in the Special Care Baby Unit at Hope Hospital in Salford for over 6 month's until she was stable enough to come home and be part of the family. She has coped with an awful amount of difficulty for such a young child, but step by step she is reaching her own milestones with the love and support from her family, teachers in Salford and supporter's around her.
Ellie Poppy suffers from major speech & language difficulties, she is trying so hard to make a word sound like a word and also to use sign language in communicating her needs. So with positive support in encouraging her to learn to be assertive and to learn how to ask for what she wants from others, in a few more years, she may be able to hold a conversation??? We hope so much that she can...
We continue to fund raise for her so we, as a family can give Ellie every opportunity in her young life the best help and support affordable, to overcome these major obstacles to the best of her ability.
The Therapy Plan for 2010
Your fund raising efforts or donations will help Ellie to access specialist Autistic Treatment and advice from the Autism Treatment Centre of America, and further ongoing private therapy. The Son-Rise Programme.
Phil & Nina have attended the 5 day Starter Programme with the Autism Treatment Centre of America in London (January 2010).
This training was helped to become possible with addittional funding by "Caudwell Childrens Charity"
We have this year, many ways we can spend your money raised for Ellie. We wish to take Ellie back to America and participate for two weeks in an Intensive Two Week Programme with the Son-Rise Programme.
Secondly, to provide Ellie with a long-term home teaching programme we are advised to build a special "Focus Room" at home, where Ellie will recieve one to one therapy by Phil & Nina and their Volunteers for Ellie.
